The 97 piece puzzle

I have recently found a new love for puzzles.  They help me creatively take a break from the crazy technology filled world that is my life. I will admit, I like having all the pieces.  To see the completed puzzle gives me a sense of accomplishment and closure that give me deep satisfaction.

Recently my youngest have also found a new in puzzles.  Yet, because he looks at the world differently than I, he doesn't need all the pieces to be satisfied or even have closure for a job well done.  Take a look at his most recent accomplishment.

His 100 piece puzzle was only 97... that didn't stop him from being proud of what he accomplished.  When I mentioned to him that missing scenery pieces weren't so bad, but too bad he lost her face.  He said, "I'll just draw her face in." And he did with a sense of pleasure and completion that convicted me.

You see I often need everything to be in just the right place,  I need all the pieces to fall together, and well, truth be know - often they don't.  I am left with a couple choices then -  I can have a fit, call it ruined, consider it time wasted, or even destroy the work.  Or I can step back look how much was actually accomplished, realize that the beauty of the work is still shining through, let God draw in a few lost details, and walk away proud of what God allowed to happen.

What are you trying desperately to put together today?
What parts of your life look like it has missing pieces?
God is willing to draw in the missing pieces and give us a beautiful story if we just let him.

Know you are loved ~Rachel

PS - I like his 97 piece version of the story better than if it had all the pieces.

  1. This is beautiful. I feel like we all have pieces that we are trying to put together in our lives. God can help us see how they fit and sometimes we may think we need them and we really are better off without them.
