Rugged Devotion
This is my story
.... almost four and half decades of God penning chapter by chapter, sometimes page by page - who are we kidding -  sometimes it's just word by word of what I look at and see as beautiful story.  

A story that has some horrible chapters.  
A story that has some really great chapters.  
A story that seems so confusing.  
A story that makes perfect sense.  
A story full of mistakes.  
A story full of grace.  
One thing you will find in every chapter is a story of hope.  

A story of rugged devotion to a loving God who longs to keep writing a beautiful story with my life. 

Now, if I will just let Him keep holding the pen...

Where a parking lot met the woods

2021 started out pretty silent for me.  God usually booms pretty loud in my soul.  Not this season, this season I have longed to hear his big booming voice.  Don't get me wrong, I still hear him, he just kinda whispers these days - not that good kind of make you feel special whisper.  That, you're not really sure kinda whisper.  The one where you strain to hear and wonder if the words are really for you or were they meant for someone else.  I prayed for God to boom and he did for few short hours on a cold night where a parking lot met the woods. Snow is my favorite thing in all the world.  Travis is my favorite human, but snow is my favorite thing.  I know a weird thing for a Texas girl to cling to, but it is what it is.  I can't change it.   For me snow is spiritual, as much as I always have something to say, I find it a challenge to put it all into words - it comes out in fragments or simple words that all mean something deep in my sou...

The 97 piece puzzle

I have recently found a new love for puzzles.  They help me creatively take a break from the crazy technology filled world that is my life. I will admit, I like having all the pieces.  To see the completed puzzle gives me a sense of accomplishment and closure that give me deep satisfaction.  Recently my youngest have also found a new in puzzles.  Yet, because he looks at the world differently than I, he doesn't need all the pieces to be satisfied or even have closure for a job well done.  Take a look at his most recent accomplishment.   His 100 piece puzzle was only 97... that didn't stop him from being proud of what he accomplished.  When I mentioned to him that missing scenery pieces weren't so bad, but too bad he lost her face.  He said, "I'll just draw her face in." And he did with a sense of pleasure and completion that convicted me.  You see I often need everything to be in just the right place,  I need all the pieces to fall toget...

Repeat

Sometimes I wonder if it will every stop.  Will I ever find the moment when it all stops and I can catch my breath or will it forever be on repeat in my heart?  I used to ask for it to stop, now I ask God to let me learn something new each time it plays.    Learn how to offer grace daily,  learn how to give mercy again,  learn how to trust apprehensively,  learn how to walk-on confidently,  learn how to love endlessly,  learn how to recognize sooner,  learn how to embrace truth,  learn how to be strong enough to allow it to all repeat again.
